Yes, it is an alternative to burning fossil fuel such as coal, oil, or natural gas.
A country should not go in for nuclear power, in my opinion, unless it has developed an adequate level in science and technology to be able to run the plant safely. It is always possible to buy a plant and get it built and commissioned by a more advanced country,(which also lends the money), but eventually the foreign staff go home, and the home grown ones have to be competent to carry on. The other drawback may be political interference affecting how the plant is managed-putting in the President's nephew as Station Manager or some such move which could affect safety.
The commonly quoted alternative energy sources are wind, solar, tidal, ocean waves, biomass, heat pumps (air or ground), geothermal. The last is only available in particular locations. Heat pumps can be used for heating houses, but are not widely used because of costs of installation. The others can be used for electricity production, and are being used increasingly, but their total contribution is not likely to become as high as nuclear (about 20 percent in the US). So if nuclear is not used, there will have to be an increase in fossil fuel use, which given the high cost of oil and natural gas probably means more coal use. There is coal available, but environmentalists don't like the pollution it causes. So in the end society will have to decide between coal and nuclear.
Yes, all renewable energy (solar, wind, water, hydro, tidal and wave, geothermal, ocean thermal, biomass and biofuel) is an alternative.
You could also say that fossil fuel (coal, oil and natural gas) is an alternative.
Yes, it is an alternative to fossil fuel burning, and hence reduces the global load of CO2 and other products of combustion.
Nuclear power is an alternative to fossil fuel power, although many people are not happy with it and would like to use different alternatives.
wave power, tidal power, solar power and wind power, hope this helps <3
Many people think nuclear is a suitable alternative. Nuclear energy is clean, with no carbon dioxide pollution, so it does not add to global warming the way that burning fossil fuels (coal, oil and natural gas) does. However, nuclear power has its dangers too. Accidents at power plants can be deadly, and there is no easy way yet to dispose of nuclear waste.
There are many factors that have caused nuclear energy not to be used widely. It can be dangerous, and there have been several disasters or close calls involving nuclear power. It is also not as profitable as fossil fuels, so businesses are less likely to engage.
One use is in nuclear power plants to produce steam and turn turbines to generate electricity.Nuclear bombs ^.^
It was a nuclear bomb. Everyone was afraid of a nuclear bomb. The nuclear power plant malfunctioned. The Cold War was about fear of nuclear attack.
Plutonium is an alternative; thorium as fertile material.
yes such as power and electricity
yes nuclear power
fossil energy alternative energy nuclear power
Technically, anyone who lives near a nuclear power plant and, i suppose, gets permission, can use nuclear energy as a cheaper alternative to electricity
wave power, tidal power, solar power and wind power, hope this helps <3
Possibly nuclear power is not considered an alternative energy because it is already established as big business. Or possibly because there are inherent problems with it to which proponents of alternative energy object. The power sources being promoted as alternative energy share certain things in common. One of which is that they tend to be renewable, which nuclear power is not, as it depends on nonrenewable resources. Another is that they have low carbon footprints, and the carbon footprint of nuclear power is significantly greater than the carbon footprints of wind, recent solar technology, hydro, and biomass. Another problem is that nuclear power has a potential for long term damage other technologies do not have.
nuclear power, fossil energy and alternative energy.
I think so, many others disagree!
solar power , wind power , nuclear power , hydroelectric , tidal power , biomass energy .
Governments want scientists to work on a nuclear power plant to lessen the dependence of fossil fuels. The product of nuclear power plants are atomic energy, a clean energy alternative.
Plutionium, Uranium and/or Americum can all be used to fuel a nuclear fission power station
