Should you get rid of all technology it has made peoples lives easier living in this day and age but do all people need it?

This question has been asked for centuries-- in fact, every time a new technology comes out, people seem to line up on one side (it's amazing and the best thing ever) or the other side (it's horrible and it's destroying society). But looking at it from the extremes is probably not useful. The truth usually can be found somewhere in the middle. While it is true that some people are obsessed with technology, or even addicted to it, getting rid of it entirely is not practical, since it is so much a part of our culture. But by honestly evaluating your daily technology use, you can decide if you are overly dependent on certain aspects of it (such as constantly sending text messages, or playing games on your computer for hours at a time, to the exclusion of everyone around you). Technology itself is neither good nor bad-- it depends how you use it. Nobody "needs" a computer or a TV or a smart-phone; but on the other hand, these and other technologies can make our lives easier, if we use them in moderation. Rather than going to the extreme of getting rid of technology, it can be a very beneficial exercise to shut off all of your devices for a specific period of time. This can encourage interpersonal conversation (rather than texting), and could lead to actually visiting someone and having lunch together. Not spending hours in front of the TV or with eyes glued to your computer can promote conversation and establish a more personal interaction with your friends. Most people who have technology in their lives find it convenient and it can certainly save time. But if it is getting in the way of real relationship and good conversation, then temporarily taking a vacation from it could indeed be a good idea. So to sum up, you should probably not get rid of your technology, but you should make sure you are using it in moderation.
