Why should same-sex marriage be legalized in New York?

Same-sex marriage was legalized in New York effective July 24, 2011. It was legalized because a majority of state legislators and the governor believed that there was no legitimate reason to prevent same-sex couples from marrying in that state, when same-sex marriages had already been legally recognized pursuant to a court decision since February 2008.

Should same-sex marriage be legalized in Kentucky?

This is a question that is best left up to the people of Kentucky. I personally feel that same-sex marriage should be legalized there. I feel more strongly, however, that my New York marriage should be recognized in Kentucky and that no state should be able to pick and choose what marriages they recognize. Kentucky recognizes all New York state marriages, except those that are between persons of the same sex. I feel that is discriminatory, but then again there is no law prohibiting sexual orientation discrimination in Kentucky.
