No, I have a 90 YJ and it's a solid frame molded seat. Check the under side of the seat where the slides bolt up and make sure the frame is ok.
should be by your left knee while in the drivers seat--under the dash:)

It is a loose connection under the drivers seat toward the back. Disconnect and reconnect that should solve the problem

remove the bench seat behind the drivers seat. remove the service panel from the interior panel on the drivers side.

Under the drivers seat. Open the door an you should see the fusebox cover below the drivers seat at the right hand side.
Lift up on the front of the back seat and it should come loose, then up and out.

there should be 4 bolts that hold the seat to the floor. just remove them and if it has power seat dont forget to unplug them.
by the battery and theres a fuse panel by ur left foot when ur in the drivers seat

Order a new seat locking lever from FORD, it should be accessable from the drivers side where you adjust the seat.
look under the drivers seat and passenger seat and there should be a wire coming off the seat belt that you can unplug to stop the chime.
the rear seat is held in by one bolt which you can access through the hatch- that's it! once that bolt is removed, the two clips on the front bottom of the seat can be wiggled loose, and the seat is out.
THere should be an "L" shaped bar under the seat that is touching the floor. I find it is very hard to lift sometimes and have wacked my hands a few times. When it does come up just wiggle the seat back and forther until it is really loose. then left it out.
Should be along the frame under drivers seat.
Should be right behind the drivers seat in the storage compartment.
when setting in the vehicle in the drivers seat it is directly bedide the seat on the right side of the drivers seat in the floor!
