Ideally no, if you have a previous history of gastric or duodenal ulcer. ibuprofen and related analgesics act by inhibiting an enzyme called COX2 (cyclo oxygenase 2). This enzyme produces prostaglandins, which are essential for maintaining the gastric/duodenal mucosa. Prostaglandins also maintain blood circulation to the epithelial (membrane) lining. Thus, inhibition of prostaglandins may be ominous, particularly in the vulnerable.

== == Tylenol (paracetamol, acetaminophen) does not affect ulcers -- unlike Aspirin, which does.

However, whilst it is difficult to overdose on Aspirin, it is very easy to overdose on paracetamol. Too much, too quickly, will slowly and irreversibly destroy your liver -- a slow and painful death. Never exceed the stated dose.

The short answer is potentially, but certain underlying conditions (i.e. H. pylori infection or Alcoholism) or medications (prednisone) may make an ulcer more likely. However, higher doses for longer times equal a higher likelihood of complications, including stomach ulcers and bleeding. For most people, periodic ibuprofen use is very safe and likely safe for daily low dose. You would want to have your kidney and liver function checked if you use it for more than a few weeks twice daily though.

People on daily aspirin therapy use coated aspirin to prevent stomach bleeding. Ibuprofen does not normally cause stomach bleeding. A bacterium causes most stomach ulcers.

Can you give a dog tramadol and aspirin?

No - you should never give a dog aspirin or any other human over-the-counter pain medication (Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, ibuprofin, Motrin, etc.). Dogs are extremely sensitive to the side effects of these drugs and even one pill can be enough to cause a fatal stomach ulcer. Prednisone is a powerful drug that is only given with a veterinarian's prescription. Overdosing can be fatal with this drug as well.

Can you give dog aspirin with amoxicillin?

I'd check with your vet first, aspirin can upset the stomach, not all antbiotics will agree with pets, if your vet gave you the amoxicillin did they mention to give aspirin also? Aspirin not recommended by your vet can be fatal to your dog. Never ever give aspirin made for human consumption to your dogs.

Do you give your dog Motrin?

No, dogs are not small humans and do not react the same to human medications. Dogs are extremely sensitive to the side effects of Motrin (and all other human over-the-counter pain medicines like Tylenol, Advil, Aleve, paracetamal, aspirin, ibuprofin, etc); a single pill can be enough to cause fatal stomach ulcers in your dog. If you believe your dog would benefit from pain medication, you need to make an appointment with your veterinarian. There are safe pain medications for dogs, but you need a veterinary prescription to access them.

What medication can you take at age 14 for wisdom teeth?

Anything that helps. Wisdom teeth hurt like hell so I wouldn't recommend aspirin or ibuprofin. Go with whatever they give you and moderate the dosage.

How is mucus coating and ulcer related?

Mucus is carbohydrate based. It is not affected by the pepsin. Once this barrier is broken, pepsin attack the stomach wall to form the ulcer. You give acid lowering agents to lessen the efficiency of the pepsin.

Can you give a 30 pound dog an aspirin for foot pain?

No - dogs should never be given human pain medications (Tylenol, aspirin, Advil, Aleve, Motrin, ibuprofen, etc.). Dogs are very sensitive to the side effects, which can be fatal. If you believe your dog would benefit from pain medication, you will need to make an appointment with your veterinarian for an examination. There are safe pain medications available for dogs, but you need a veterinary prescription to get them.

Is it OK to give your dog 0.4 ml of aspirin?

Yes, yes it is. How much aspirin a dog can have depends on it's size and weight! If you are doubt about how much aspirin to give your dog, call your vet's office and ask them. Regular strength buffered or baby aspirins should be used, not "safety coated" aspirin. Always give aspirin with food, to help avoid an upset stomach. If the dog starts to vomit, stop giving it aspirin. Aspirin has blood thinning properties, so it can be dangerous in some dogs. For long term pain relief there are safer veterinary-specific alternatives.

What age do people get stomach ulcers?

Usually all ages can get the peptic ulcer. It is not common yet you may still get the tragic peptic ulcer. The adults are surely the ones to get the peptic ulcer not knowing what may happen or how to get the peptic ulcer. Start joining my foundation called " Helping those who need to Survive." You may not see this foundation anywhere in the world but those of you who know me please help for the money you give in will be sent to the hospital.

What do I give my dog who has an upset stomach from aspirin?

Sometimes a little cooked rice mixed with chopped meat helps. Still, it will not be long and the dog will get over it. However, next time you administer aspirin to your dog, use the coated aspirin. This should prevent another upset stomach episode.
