THE AMOUNT OF ASPIRIN that is prescibed for prevention of heart attack is ususally around 80 mg. So however many of your baby aspirins equal the closest to 80 mg is how many that should be taken. One brand of aspirin makes a special aspirin for just that purpose. I believe it is a tablet that is 83 mg. Everytime one takes an aspirin it can cause some stomach bleeding that can get worse in time. Doctors are beginning to back-off of this theory of just anyone taking aspirin. If someone does have a heart condition then this is cause for at least aspirin, but, some doctors feel healthy people shouldn't take aspirin. Most of us get Arthritis when we get older and some of the medications can be tough on the stomach and liver, so if you've been taking aspirin all those years when you didn't have too you could well be dealing with bad stomach problems in the future. Discuss aspirin and heart with a Cardiologist. My husband's Cardiologist said healthy people didn't need it, and my husband is on other medications for his Atrial Fibrillation.
