Should your knees be locked during a deadlift?
November 29, 2009 3:46PM
if theyre locked the whole way through then its a stiff legged deadlift which will target your lower back and hamstrings. in a proper deadlift the knees should lock out at the top of the movement.
What is proper lifting form?
Proper lifting form is the precise procedure in performing an exercise (usually with weights or against resistance) in such a manner as to yield the maximum benefit from the exercise while also preventing injury. It is important because exercise can sometimes be dangerous if it is done improperly, such as trying to perform a deadlift with your knees locked straight.

How do you deadlift?
There are various forms of deadlifts with each variation being performed differently then the others. The most basic deadlift is performed in 5 steps: Stand with the bar above the center of your feet - your stance should be a bit more narrow than shoulder-width to give your arms room. Grab the bar overhand so your arms are vertical to the floor - if your hamstrings are tight, do Squat 2 stands to boost your hip flexibility. Bend through your knees until your shins hit the bar which must remain above the middle of your feet. Shoulder-blades directly over the bar. Lift your chest but don't squeeze your shoulder-blades like on Squats. Just put your shoulders back & down, head inline with rest of your spine. Pull - keep the bar close to your body, roll it over your knees and thighs until your hips and knees are locked. Do not lean back at the top.

If you jump from a table onto a floor are you more likely to be hurt if your knees are bent or if your legs are stiff and your knees are bent?
Your question ... the way you wrote it ... really doesn't make sense. I think you meant the second choice to be "legs straight and knees locked". That configuration is more likely to hurt you, because your knees can't absorb any of the impact, and the shock is transmitted up into your hips and spine.

How to get rid of dark knees?
If you want to get rid of those dark, ugly, discolored knees/elbows this is for you. Take a lemon or lemon juice and soak your knees in it for about 10-15 minutes. After you are done soaking your knees, take a warm washcloth and scrub your knees firmly. You should repeat this everyday, until you see results. To prevent this you should remember to wash your knees/elbows. ******************************************************************** Also try to use the stone( the one you would scrub your feet with) and gently scrub!!!!!! hope this helps!!!!!

Can locking your knees make you pass out?
It definitely can, but it does not always occur. Depending on how your knees are shaped, standing with your knees bent for just 10 minutes can sometimes make you faint. If your knees are shaped a certain way, then locking your knees pinches a major artery just slightly, stopping a small amount of blood to stay in your legs instead of going to your brain. The longer you stand like that, the less oxygen goes to you brain. First you will feel woozy, then you might feel very nauseous, and then you wake up on the ground, wondering what happened. Just recently during a choir performance I, not knowing any of this yet, stood with my knees locked the entire time, because it uses less muscle. I felt like I was going to throw up, saw colors, and then I woke up on the floor with three other choir members trying to help me up.

What is a layout?
with all your might you run and do a round off then after that you are going to flip backwards like you are doing your tuck but instead of tucking your knees to your chest you are going to straight them out so its like your lying flat and you are going to pull with your toes stomach and shoulders to flip your body around. in the end dont freck out and bring your knees in keep your knees locked the whole time. work on your abs you really need it in your tumbling.
