Significance of the Winnipeg General Strike?

Workers were discontent with the poor working conditions. Newspapers called strike a "Revolution". The Strikers demonstrated in the streets and attacked a streetcar. The mayor read about the riot act - ordered RNWMP (Royal North Western Mountie Police) to enact upon it - RNWMP fired shots at strikers and managed to kill two. The strikers called off the strike. In response, the Manitoba Provincial Government promised to investigate the workers complaints. The end result of the Winnipeg General Strike had some workers fined, others forced to sign "Yellow Dog" contracts (A promise not to join the Union) and ultimately the start of "The Red Scare". Bitterness was shared between workers and their employers for years.
