A boa constrictor can have many different markings. Their colors vary depending on the area they live in, allowing them to blend in. The snake usually has a light background color with a pattern of diamond, circle, or saddle-like shapes in a darker color.

A boa constrictor is a great huge sometimes yellow snake that is about 8x as long as you, and will wrap it's body around it's prey and crush them, then eat them in one bite. They are pretty hard to miss.

an odd question.

I'll assume you're refering to the "common" boa, Boa Constrictor Imperator, from Colombia. Red tails are considered Boa Constrictor Constrictor and found in different countries. However, don't just look to subspecies to find differences, there is also wide variation within localities. Hog Island Boas, Corn Island Boas, and Nicaraguan are all BCI's from different places, and all very different. If you want other sub species, there are :

Boa Constrictor amarali

Boa Constrictor Constrictor

Boa Constrictor imperator

Boa Constrictor longicauda

Boa Constrictor melanogaster

Boa Constrictor nebulosus

Boa Constrictor occidentalis

Boa Constrictor orophias

Boa Constrictor ortonii

Boa Constrictor sabogae

If you look at other boas, rosy's, Kenyan sand, rubber, rainbow, emerald tree (to name a few) you'll see that even though a species has the name of "boa" it's nothing like a boa constrictor. It would help if your question was more specific, what similarities are you looking for? Size? Temperment? Captive care?

Boa constrictors are in the 'Boa' genus, which is part of the 'Boidae' snake family. So if you are vague about the simularities then any snake in this family are like a boa constrictor. Main types of snake in this family include: Constrictors; Boas; Anacondas and Pythons.

Between the subspecies, there is quite a big array of appearances. The majority of subspecies are famous for that "red" tail, the saddles on their back, and the diamonds on their side. The Boa constrictor constrictor is the subspecies that generally have the reddest of tails, other subspecies either have a black, light brown, reddish-brown, or dark brown tail. The Argentine boa (Boa constrictor occidentalis) is one that breaks this stereotype, having a dark black background spotted with white all over. Their saddles are difficult to make out, but visible as babies and in some adults, while the tail pattern can be almost impossible to make out. There's just such a wide array of appearances just in the Boa constrictor imperatorsubspecies, it would be impossible to list everything here! But in general, this is the appearance of the wonderful species known as boa constrictor.
