why wont the blades/auger on my JOHN DEERe snow blower turn?
first thing i would check is to make sure there isn't a piece of wood or something jammed between the blades and housing. i don't know if your blower is shaft or belt driven. if belt driven check the belt and pulleys. if it is shaft driven try to spin the blades by hand, if they turn free then the shear pin is broke. look for a small round steel pin in the same are the blower shaft attaches. it should go through the shaft all the way from side to side.

∙ 14y agoIf all the parts are moving and look like they are working right the problem could be that the snow is too wet. Many blowers won't throw snow that has started to melt. It just clogs up the chute.
