The Himalayas shelter Asia from cold air. The range also exerts a major influence rainfall and monsoons. !
The Himalayas have a profound effect on the climate of the Indian subcontinent and theTibetan plateau. They prevent frigid, dry Arctic winds blowing south into the subcontinent, which keeps South Asia much warmer than corresponding temperate regions in the other continents. It also forms a barrier for the monsoon winds, keeping them from traveling northwards, and causing heavy rainfall in the Terai region. The Himalayas are also believed to play an important part in the formation of Central Asian deserts, such as theTaklamakan and Gobi.
The Himalayan mountains in southern Asia cause a lack of precipitation on the leeward, or dry side of the mountain range. Moist, warm air coming from the Indian ocean meets the tall mountain summit, or the windward side of the mountain range, and is forced upwards. The warm, moist air rises because it is less dense, and as it rises, the air cools and condenses, forming clouds.
These clouds form, accumulate moisture, and cause heavy amounts of rain on one side of the mountain. The moisture is all used up on the windward side of the Himalayas, so the leeward side of the mountains is very dry- this region with very little annual precipitation is the Gobi desert- the coldest desert on our planet.
The Himalayas prohibit any climate change throughout the entire region.
It sucks my big hairy dictionary.
tampon

The rain forests located near the Equator in South America, Africa, and Asia get the most rainfall.

Asia is home to the Syrian Desert and the Altai Mountains.
The Ural Mountains that run north-to-south in Russia, are the primary landform that divides Europe from Asia. Farther south, the Caucasus Mountains run west-to-east between the Black Sea and the Caspian Sea. Although Georgia and Armenia (south of these mountains) are often considered part of Eastern Europe, Anatolia in Turkey is considered western Asia.
- The Hindu Kush and Himalayan Mountains limited contact with other lands, leaving India's distinct culture to develop on its own.
