Why would you not be getting a spark after replacing the ignition coils and spark plug wires on a 91 Chevy Cavalier 2.2 liter 4 cylinder?
Answer . It's a tough call, but the one we did a couple of months ago, had a bad computer. It would run good for a few minutes, and then start running rough, as if there was a load being placed on the engine. Then of course, it would cough and die.. Have you checked the ignition module? It's the… plate that the coils sit on, that has the wires connected to it. Most junk yards sell the complete coil pack (mount, ignition module and both coils) for 25-35.00 $. ( Full Answer )

\n. \n Answer \n. \n. \n1. Get a service/repair manual before you start any of your own work on your vehicle. It will pay for itself over and over again. \n. \n2. Make sure your motor is off and cool before you start.\n. \n3. Take just one spark plug wire off one plug by grabbing the …spark plug wire boot and not the wire itself. Or use a spark plug wire puller.\n. \n4. Make sure there is no dirt and/or oil around the spark plug. If needed, wipe the area around the spark plug hole being careful not to brush the dirt and oil away from the hole. Better yet blown it out with compressed air if you have a compressor. \n. \n5. Take out that plug with the proper tools by turning the plug to the left (counter clockwise). Usually the tool is a 13/16 or 5/8 deep socket. You may have to have a swivel joint and an extension also. \n. \n6. Apply anti-seize compound to the plug threads. Replace it with a new one turning the spark plug in by hand until hand tight. \n. \n7. Use the same tool you used to take out the old plug to snug up the new plug. Do not over tighten. \n. \n8. Connect the spark plug wire onto the new plug. Make sure it is on. They usually kind of snap on. \n. \n9. Follow steps three through eight until all spark plugs have been replaced. \n. \nTips:\nWhile you are at the parts store you might want to get a spark plug gaper and spark plug wire puller. Even though the gap is pre set on new plugs it is a very good idea to check it (ask the counter clerk at the auto parts store for the recommended gap). The wire puller saves the wires from pulling apart from the boot. \nDoing just one plug at a time helps you to keep everything in order. A crossed plug wire means the vehicle will miss fire or fire out of order.\nTake a good look at the old plugs. They can tell you a lot on how your vehicle is running.\nWhile you are under the hood, consider spending another $20 - $30 for high quality plug wires. If you replace the plug wires be very careful and only do them one at a time and don't get them crossed. \nWhat You Need:\nSocket Driver\n3/16 or 5/8 deep socket\n3" and 6" drive extensions\nSwivel adapter for the driver allows for tight spaces\nAnti-seize compound\n. \n Answer \nTO REPLACE CLY'S #1, 3, & 6 THE INTAKE MANIFOLD HAS BE REMOVED. How do you change spark plug wires in a GM pickup truck It is a sierra classic 1500 with a 350hp motor It has 8 cylinders and an automatic transmission It was made in 1995 It is fuel injected?
Answer . Spray a little solvent around each sparkplug, then use compressed air to blow each one clean. That way you minimize the possibility of getting debris down the cylinder after the plugs are out. \n. \nMark the plug wires before removing them, usually a piece of tape with the number writt…en on it or a wire marker with a printed number. Remove the plugs and note the color and general condition. If any of the plugs are black or oil fouled, that cylinder is burning a little oil. If any of the plug insulators are bright white, that cylinder is running "lean", and you need to find the vacuum leak and repair it.\n. \nWith all of the plugs out, run a compression test. Use a compression gauge in each cylinder and briefly crank the engine to make certain that all cylinders are functioning properly. You sould get about 110 to 120 PSI in each cylinder. If any are below 90, you probably have a valve going bad.\n. \nCheck the plug gap before replacing the plug. The proper gap setting should be written somewhere on a label under the hood.\n. \nMake sure you reconnect the plug wires to the correct plug, then start the engine and drive off. ( Full Answer )

Well... The plugs are on the driver's side. The 4 wires go up and across the engine between the valve cover and the air inlet resonator, at which point they go into a plastic conduit. The conduit then goes downward, through the alternator bracket, and down the right side of the block. Ending up at t…he two coil packs on the lower right side of the engine.. It is very tough to replace these wires. But sooner or later you got to do it.. I've heard one story of using the old wire to pull the new one in. But I don't see how that would work. I fished mine with a coat hanger. Replacement wires don't have printed numbers on them. So you got to lay them out from longest to shortest............ 4 3 2 1. I wrote on the ends with a Sharpie pen.. Once you get the 4 wires through the alternator bracket and attached to the coils, put the conduit on at the top of the engine and slide it down the wires toward the coils. There is no excess wire, do it wrong and it won't reach. Don't put any stress on the wires either. Make sure you hear and/or feel a click when you put the boot on the plugs and coil terminals.. The coil terminals are numbered. ( Full Answer )

Firing Order: 1-5-3-6-2-4 Of course the cylinders are numbered 1-2-3-4-5-6 from the front of the engine to the rear. Remove the distributor cap & spark plugs, and turn the engine over slightly without starting and observe which way the engine turns and which way the distributor rotor rotates. Now tu…rn the engine over by hand until you get the #1 piston at TDC on the compression stroke. Now look where the rotor is pointing. It will be pointing at the #1 spark plug wire location. Replace all spark plugs. Connect the #1 plug to the location the rotor is pointing to. Now count in the direction the rotor turns to the 5th plug location and connect the 5th spark plug wire there. Then do the 3rd, 6th, 2nd, and finally the 4th. Reinstall the rotor and fire it up. For more info on your Chevy click the link. ( Full Answer )
