The tender age doctrine in Texas applies to children under the age of 3. It sets forth that the primary parent keeps the child while the other is allowed multiple short visits weekly.

What is the tender-Years theory regarding custody?

its saying that the child should stay with the mother during the
tender years which is up until about 12. yet most states don't
really look at it because its absolute garbage. A) tender years
arent up to 12. and B) if a mother isn't a fit mother then the
"tender years" should be with the father. So it exists, yet most

In Texas how long do you have to keep paying child support?

At what age does child support payments end? Generally,
the obligation ends when the child reaches 18 years of age or the
child graduates from high school, whichever occurs later. However,
a court can order the obligation to continue for an indefinite
period if the child is disabled. A child will automatically be
ineligible for child support if that child marries, is removed from
disability status by a court order, or the child dies.

What age can a child in Texas pick which parent has custody?

A child can not decisively pick which parent he or she will live
with. However, if the child is at least 12 years old, then he or
she can submit to the court a preference. The Texas Family Code
says this exactly:
§ 153.008. CHILD'S PREFERENCE OF PERSON TO DESIGNATE RESIDENCE.
A child 12
years of age or older may file with the court in writing the
name of the person who is the child's preference to have the
exclusive right to designate the primary residence of the child,
subject to the approval of the court.
