You have a "Hot Wire" some place that is shorting out. You need to start following the wires to see if you can find the short.Remove the Brake Light assembly and start there, working your way forward. Perhaps fixing the ground wire for the passenger side on the 2000 Chevy S-10 will require that the driver's side ground wire also be fixed in order to have the brake lights work properly. There has to be a short somewhere in the wiring for the lights to go off.
