The check engine light came on 2 days agoi turned it off yesterday and tried to start it back it started and shut right of like its getting no fire but turns over fine?

With computerized systems, in normal circumstances, the computer uses more than one input to control the ignition. These include a camshaft position sensor, and a crankshaft sensor. They are both needed, as one is used to determine the speed of the crankshaft, while the other is used to determine the position of the camshaft, which allows the computer to determine which spark plug to fire. When one fails, lighting the checjk engine light, the computer defaults to using the other sensor for both engine speed and position. This typically causes a delayed start, but if the computer gets lucky, it gets the engine started. When you reset the light, you are also telling the computer that the problem has been fixed, and makes the unit "look" again at both sensors. If only one works, the computer will wait for that fact to be "recognized" before again using only one sensor. In the mean time, the computer, "seeing" only one sensor, will not turn the ignition back on lest a backfire damage the engine or other component. This default set up is a line in the software controlling the computer. Ray
