What happens in the process of meiosis 1?

During meiosis I, DNA replicates after which homologous
chromosomes pair up and cross over, trading segments with each
other. Then the pairs of homologous chromosomes line up along the
cell's equator, and then the individual members of each pair of
homologous chromosomes move to opposite ends of the cell. After
cytokinesis, the resulting cells are now haploid.
