The fuse for the auto door lock on a 2000 Mercury Cougar keeps blowing what can I check and is there anything that I can do to fix it with out taking it to the shop?

try a slightly larger fuse if it blows almost immediatly then there is a short in the wires. pop the panels off and trace the wiring if u see anybad insulation replace that section of wires
