Yes - specifically about the annexation of Texas.
True, the largest issue in the election of 1844 was expansion. Whig Party representative Henry Clay was opposed to expansion, while democratic nominee James Polk claimed that they had the right to annex any land that was willing. It was that mindset that helped James Polk win the election.

In the election of 1856, what was noteworthy was the fact the issue of slavery was not discussed during the presidential campaign in a divided nation on this issue. James Buchanan and John Fremont were the main candidates. James Buchanan won the election, but he did not get the majority of the popular vote. Four years later, Lincoln would become president.
The election of 1848 was a spell of pure party politics. Zachary Taylor (the Whig candidate) was NOT registered to vote, and hardly even cared that he was elected. Taylor was chosen because he was a war hero from the Mexican American War (the Whigs had been anti-war, but the war had gone so well that no one opposed it afterwards). Even though Taylor was not really a Whig, he was popular and somehow beat out Lewis Cass (Democratic Candidate) even when the previous president (James K Polk) had been a Democrat AND wildly popular. Slavery was also an issue that Whigs wanted Taylor to take a strong stand against, but he remained incredibly neutral on it. Taylor beat Cass due to popularity, then died a few months into the presidency. VP Millard Fillmore, AKA the most forgettable president, takes over. Not a very important election except for the building tension of the North/South Slave State/Free State conflict that would lead to the Civil War.
South Eastern Main Line was created in 1844.
"Jews" were FDR main supporters in the election of 1936.
An election held to choose candidates for the main election is called a Primary Election.
