The crusaders were exposed to classical Greek and Roman art and ideas while in Constantinople. this led to the rebirth of knowledge also known as the renaissance.
The renaissance represents the new ideas of the age, in that it was the movement back to the ideas of the ancient Greeks and Romans. However, renaissance was more realistic compared to one in the Middle Ages
The Renaissance followed the middle ages. It was a "rebirth" of the arts, science, math, writing, and building. New ideas and new places were being discovered and it seemed more so after a 1000 years of war, death, and darkness.
The renaissance focused more on the ideas of spreading education and ideas of math and art, while the Enlightenment built on this ideas and questioned them.
