majority

In the United States, the position of Speaker of the House is a member of the majority political party in the US House of Representatives. This position is extremely important in the affairs of the US government. Also, as per the US Constitution, the Speaker is third in line for the Presidency for the President, if the Vice President cannot serve in the office of the President. This may be due to a death, disability or resignation of the top two incumbents. Currently the Republican party is the majority party in the House of Representatives.
