Theft system Chevy Malibu?
my 2002 Chevy Malibu theft system is faulty if the car doesnt start whyen u first crank jit the theft light blinks and u have to wait 10 min while it flashes till it stops then turn the key of then start it what could be the problem.
I don't know how to disable the system yet but, to reset it : insert the ignition key and turn to the on position (do not turn the key to start) leave the key in the on position for 10 minutes to reset the anti-theft system Your Malibu should now start normally. It has been suggested on other web sites that not inserting the key all the way when trying to start the car can…
Is there a switch that will keep a 2001 Chevy Malibu from starting if the gas tank is overfilled and if so where is it?
There is a anti theft system built into the 2001 Malibu that may self engage shutting off the fuel pump (passlock system) When this happens turn the key to the ACC position for 10 to 15 min. The theft light will flash. When the flashing stops the cars computer will reset. Turn the key off and then try to start.
I have a 2000 Malibu and it also had a faulty anti-theft system and the car would not start if it was flashing. So, we turn the ignition forward until all the gauges and lights come on but not starting the car and leave in this position for 10 mins. (it will stop flashing) then turn the key all the way off, then start the car in one swift motion. .........I hope this helps
2002 Chevy Malibu will not start Theft deterrent light stays on and will not reset by owners manual instructions?
My system has locked up as well, after repairs. If you have code, you can disconnect battery to reset entry screen. If you don't have code you have to go to dealer. Local dealer said there is two different radios in that year. They can fix one for free but the other has to be connected to a machine. But they can disarm it.
How do you repair a theft system device that enables the car to crank at times on a 98 Chevy Malibu?
The main effect you will notice the car stalls and goes dead. The computer shuts down the fuel injectors. If you have problems with the theft system and "NORMAL" procedures dont reset the theft system, check the plug on the wire harness under the battery and there are a couple of "ground wires" under there ,too.
I was told by a Chevy dealer that it is built in and cannot be removed. You can disable the anti - theft by getting to the ignition switch and cut the anti - theft wire. Which in my case on a 2001 Malibu was a yellow wire in ignition bundle. This wire must be cut while engine is running to fake out the computer that enables the signal to the fuel pump to allow…
remove dash panel around stereo and heater controls, then remove the radio. then fish around the wires until you come across a yellow black and red (i think is the last color) set of wires taped together. what you want to do is cut the yellow wire. this will disengage the anti-theft system, but make sure your car is running when you cut the yellow wire or you will be screwed and the car won't…
2004 Chevy Malibu sometimes will not start Anti theft light is also on Only way to start is to reset Any suggestions?
The anti-theft feature prevents the car from being started when one of several anti-theft devices is faulty are have otherwise been activated. The problem you describe might be the ignition switch, which is known to wear out quickly on those models. The system can be completely disabled only when the car is running (meaning the theft deterrent system is inactive after the Passlock II system detects the proper key in the ignition). A wire can…
