Ask him why he says these things to you or when he says something ask him at that moment what he means and why he says such things. He may be nervous and not quite sure what to say to you and possibly does like you.

If you were talking to your crush while his friend was over, his friend probably felt left out and decided to talk to you too; however, if his friend randomly started to talk to you at that moment they were probably talking about you.
