When a person looses a lot of blood through sudden accidents where blood loss occurs, the persons blood balance is lowered. In such cases, the glucose is given till the patient fully recovers.

Glucose is needed to fuel the body. If it is very low large amounts will be given to bring it up. Over longer periods it is usually given to people who are not taking any food through their gut. It needs to be given until they can either eat or be fed through a tube into their stomach.
All humans need glucose to survive. Most persons get adequate glucose from what they eat and drink and only experience occasional lows such as if they fast for 24 hours. But in the healthy body, the pancreas and liver work together to keep the glucose within normal limits.
A person with Diabetes may experience low blood sugar. The person should learn to recognize his or her particular symptoms because a low glucose can be reversed if the person eats or drinks. The glucose level will start to rise within 15-20 minutes after eating.
Sometimes the person with diabetes will not recognize the symptoms of a low, or a low glucose will come suddenly. The person may be too confused to know that he or she should eat. As long as the person is conscious and can swallow, they can be given glucose-raising drinks or chew or suck on easy to dissolve glucose tablets. Two glucose tablets can be given every 15 minutes, up to three times (usually). Each patient with diabetes should talk to the doctor about how often and how much glucose should be given to treat a low.
** IMPORTANT -- Sometimes treating a low blood glucose with food, drink, or glucose tablets does not bring the glucose level up enough or quickly enough. If a glucose meter test shows a low after the 2nd dose of glucose tablets, the person or family should call paramedics. If no glucose meter is available to test, and the person is still acting confused, disoriented, or seems "drunk", paramedics should be called sooner. As well, some patients buy a oral glucose gel that is able to get into the bloodstream faster. The patient sucks and swallows the gel -- or another person can squeeze the gel into the cheek, between the teeth and cheek, as long as the person is still semi-conscious.
A severe glucose low is a life-threatening condition and anyone nearby needs to act quickly to prevent the brain cells from dying due to a lack of circulating blood glucose. Do not delay to call 911 because a serious low can drop faster than what oral glucose tablets or gel can replace. The person will likely need IVs and rapid administration of glucose in the Emergency Room where physicians can continually monitor the patient's response to the treatment given.
A person needs to be given glucose until the sugar levels in the blood become normal.
Its given when a patient has lost too much energy
Glucose drip is given max. for 6 hours.
Close medical surveillance must continue for the rest of the patient's life. I
glucose in the body is maintained at a constant level. When there is a depletion in this level, a person can go unconscìous because of inadequate glucose supply to the brain. Administration of glucose increase glucose supply to the brain and recover such patients.
The patient has to be given glucose till he/she is allowed to have food on their own . Till he gets sufficient energy of natural glucose.
Glucose drip should be given to the patient till normal blood glucose level is restored, the patient is able to do movement properly and he or she should be encouraged to eat food which give instant energy. Even after taking glucose intravenously, glucose level may go down if proper diet is not maintained
