Zero African countries were involved in World War 2 in 1936, because the war did not start until 1939.

The European phase of World War II started when Germany and the Soviet Union invaded Poland on September 1, 1939, and the war didn't really become a "world war" until the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941.

However, the African campaigns of Italy against Ethiopia in the 1930's were certainly a prelude to the greater war.
