Theban King Cadmus is the son of King Agenor of Tyre in Phoenicia and Queen Telephassa. On his father's side, Cadmus is the grandson of the sea god Poseidon and his wife Libya; and the great grandson of Cronus and Rhea. On his mother's side, he's the grandson of Nilus; and the great grandson of Oceanus and Tethys. Through both his father's and his mother's lines, Cadmus is the great great grandson of Uranus and Gaia. And so Antigone is very highborn. For she descends from royalty, and from the gods.
