Benedict Arnold was neither a loyalist nor patriot. It's been said he is a opprotunist, which basically means he switched sides. Although he was a govenor on the American side in the first place. But than he told the British Government that he would spy on America for them, than he did the same thing back to America. Benedict switched sides when he thought the other team was winning, which makes him an opprotunist. Sadly, didnt think about what would happen when both sides figured out what he was doing, and they were going to be he angry.

∙ 10y agoGiven the term "patriot" means pro-US, and "loyalist" means pro-UK, Benedict Arnold was originally a patriot until he controlled Saratoga Fort and attempted to treasonously sell it to the British. At that point, he was seen as loyalist, due to his attempted betrayal.
