No, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr was not a president, or even a political candidate. He was a leader that helped blacks and whites come together. At the time of his death, the US was still so segregated that it would not have accepted an African-American president.

He was a pastor and civil rights leader. Other civil rights leaders that ran for office were: Jesse Jackson, Andrew Young and Al Sharpton.
