Julie Andrews had a somewhat rough childhood. She was the results of an affair her mother had with a family friend, and her parents split up because of the affair. She comes from a very poor family. Andrews' step father was an alcoholic and a violent man. He twice tried to molest her. After her mother and step father's stage career took of and once WWII was over, they moved back to her hometown where her grandmother served as their maid. Her life improved from there. Her time with her mother's first husband and the man she considered her father, Ted Wells, was very good. He was responsible for much of her education and often took her on nature walks.
