A search of digitized newspapers from the mid-1940s finds him at 3AW in Melbourne in 1944-1945, so it is reasonable to believe he was there in 1943 (not all the newspapers from that era are online). You may want to contact a library in Melbourne and see if the program listings in the Melbourne Argus or some other newspaper of that time show him as an employee of 3AW in 1943.
