Yes He was And in so doing he has also accepted that the Australian nation today is part of its history and should accept responsibility for anything any elected government does in this country.

because he was abit rude If we lived in a world where an apology was simply an apology; then yes, it would be a gesture which might give some people a sense of peace. However we apparently don't. It is a great shame that some people from any creed, culture or colour, use past (or present) events for their own ends. Keven RUDD as the (then) Prime Minister was pressured by various political groups and factions to apologise to the Australian Aboriginals for several wrongs committed by European settled over past centuries. Privious Prime Ministers have also had this pressure applied but declined to make a formal apology. Lets go back in history a little. Many Aboriginal children were taken from their parents by Welfare Agencies. It is claimed that many of these children were taken without proper authority or without reason. Interviews conducted with some of the more recent 'stolen generations' indicate that many of these children were takeb with authority and for good reason (neglect, alcoholism of parent/s etc) or because the parents requested that they be taken. Furthermore, many non Aboriginal children ahve been taken without proper authority or without good reason (professional experience) and many refugee children from war torn Europe have not been returned (sixty years on and families are still looking for each other). Also, it is claimed that the Aboriginals were dispossed of their land by European settlers. Aboriginals state that they are a nomadic peoples. This is regretable but occcured several hundred years ago. Should the Roman apologise to the Scots, the Dutch to the Hottentots and so on. RUDD did make the apology and it resulted in several legal groups suing the government for events that are (up to) 200 years old. This has the potential to bankrupt the country. My direct ancestors were disposed some 400 years ago losing us a title, lands and various other things. Should I, and many others from around the globe sue current governments over events that happened so long ago (it would be never ending). Great nations and wonderful cultures have come about through exploration and colonization. Great Britain, U.S.A., Australia just to name a few came about in this way and many benefits, inventions and world wide advantages have resulted. Unfortunately, the original inhabitants of these lands have often suffered dispossesion, cruelties and indifference. But should the sins of the fathers be visited on the heads of their sons?
hmm... canned chili to Canada. sorry that's not right!
Kevin Rudd sounded genuinely sorry when he made the apology to the stolen generation. It seemed to be a very moving experience for him.
The formal apology took place on Capital Hill in the capital Canberra.

The apology by Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to th Stolen Generations occurred in 2008.
Kevin Rudd said sorry to the Aboriginals for the Stollen Generation. The Stollen Generation was where the Aboriginal children were taken away from their homes and they had to go to schools to be taught the 'right way' or the 'Australian' way. Kevin Rudd also said sorry for taking their land. Captain cook was the first Australian to go on Australia but he wasn't the first one. The first people were the Aboriginals. Captain COok just INTRODUCED the kland to Australians and now the Australians think the country is theirs which is why Kevin Rudd apologised. I hope my answer was reasonable, enjoy!!!
Prime Minister Kevin Rudd say sorry to all Indigenous Australians because:Some says it because of the "Bringing Them Home" report which is selling more copies than other report. Some also says its because John Howard is too coward to do it so Kevin Rudd has to do it.Many non-Indigenous Australians signed the Sorry book.Thousands of non-Indigenous Australians have attended the Sorry day commemorative events.Over one and half million Australians walked bridges in support of the Stolen Generations and Reconciliationhope that i help!
