History of The Bible will show that a few women who stand in the shadow of the men with whom they are linked, and have proven to be very significant in most stages of their experiences. So it is my belief that these two women were his confidants.
In Matthew's Gospel, Mary Magdalene first met the risen Jesus on her way back to tell the disciples what the angel had said (28:9): "And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him." Clearly, she and the other Mary recognised him immediately.
In John's Gospel, Mary Magdalene first met the risen Jesus when she went to the sepulchre a second time and stood there weeping. She saw Jesus but believed him to be the gardener (20:14): "And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus."
Christians have a great deal of difficulty with questions like this, because there are so many answers:
Another answer from our community: No. She is recorded as the first to see the risen Christ, but not necessarily the first to find that the tomb was empty.
She was the first one to discover the tomb before the people brought Jesus to the tomb.
At the tomb on Easter morning , shethought jesus was the gardner.
It was Jesus who appeared to Mary.
A:In Matthew's Gospel, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary discovered that the body of Jesus was missing from his tomb. We are not told who the other Mary was. In Mark's Gospel, there were three women who went to the tomb and discovered that the body of Jesus was missing: Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome. In Luke's Gospel, we do not know how many women went to the tomb and discovered that the body of Jesus was missing. They were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and other women. In John's Gospel, only Mary Magdalene went to the tomb but ran back when she saw the stone had been moved, leavng it to the 'disciple whom Jesus loved' and Peter to discover that the tomb was empty. Jesus later appeared to Mary Magdalene but she at first thought he was the gardener.
There were two ladies, Mary Jesus mother and Mary Magdalene.
A:In Matthew's Gospel, Mary Magdalene first saw Jesus as she returned with the other Mary from finding the tomb empty. They both realised immediately that this was Jesus, falling at his feet and worshipping him (Matthew 28:9). In John's Gospel, Mary Magdalene went alone to the tomb, then returned to tell the others. She was at the tomb some time later, when she first saw Jesus and thought he was the gardener.A:Mary Magdalene thought that Jesus was the gardener. After speaking with two angels about why she was crying and answering that someone had taken her Lord away Jesus appeared to her, but she did not recognize him.
A:The specific answer required appears to be Salome, as told in Mark's Gospel. The other gospels do not mention her, although her presence is possible in Luke. Matthew's Gospel Only Mary Magdalene and the other Mary, presumably Mary mother of James, went to see the tomb. They ran back to tell the disciples.Mark's Gospel Salome went to the tomb with Mary Magdalene and Mary the mother of James.Luke's Gospel The women who came with Jesus from Galilee and certain others went to the tomb. Luke does not tell us who the women were. In this version, Peter came to the tomb after hearing from the women.John's Gospel Only Mary Magdalene went to the tomb. In this version, Peter and the disciple whom Jesus loved came Peter came to the tomb after hearing from Mary Magdalene.
In Matthew's Gospel, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to the tomb of Jesus. An angel met them outside and said that Jesus was risen. In Mark's Gospel, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Salome went to the tomb of Jesus. The stone was already moved and a young man met them inside the tomb and said that Jesus was risen. In Luke's Gospel, Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Mary the mother of James and other women went to the tomb. Two men in shining garments met them inside. In John's Gospel, Mary Magdalene was alone when she went to the tomb early in the morning. Seeing the stone moved aside, she returned immediately without meeting anyone or looking inside. After the disciples came to look and had left, Mary Magdalene was again outside the tomb when she met Jesus, whom she mistook for the gardener.
There were several people who missed out this day of Easter, though Peter and John and Mary Magdalene were the first but many other disciples were not at all there at the tomb of Jesus.
