No, he died from illness at a fairly young age. As far as I know, nobody ever protected Queen Victoria from an imminent firearm attack.

There was an attempt on her life made by Edward Oxford, an eighteen year old, who, using two pistols, fired twice at the Queen while she and Prince Albert were riding past in a carriage in Constitution Hill.

The Times reported the incident on the 11 June, 1840 (page 4), and although reading the article it seems the prince did protect Queen Victoria, he did not get shot as both bullets were recovered one from a nearby tree and one from a wall.
