Microsoft was started in 1975 and Apple in 1976. They worked together on a BASIC programming language called AppleSoft BASIC - the name being a combination of Apple and Microsoftfor the Apple computer. Microsoft also produced a Z80 processor card as an add-on for the Apple II computer. Apple developed the Mac OS for their Macintosh computer, which first appeared in 1984, and licensed part of the Mac OS to Microsoft to use in their Windows operating system which appeared in 1985.

∙ 13y agoNo, Microsoft and Apple stemmed from the same company after IBM clones became more accessible. According to sources there was a dispute which caused the mother company to fracture which birthed Microsoft and MAC as individual companies. Apple at that stage became the first company to develop MSDOS as a graphics User Interface.
