Bush was clearly a moderat LIBERAL. He would probably be considered a traditional liberal, because of his disatrous ultra-liberal economic policies, and his Neo-con stance on foreign policy, which is traditionally farily liberal. However, he was fairly right on social issues and so he would probably be fairly described as a Moderate Liberal who chose the wrong party, similar to John McCain

Bush Sr was a Republican which is the more conservative of the US's two main parties. That being said, he was more of a pragmatist than an ideologue like his son GW Bush. He inherited a massive deficit from Reagan which forced him to agree to raise taxes. This issue cost him support of his key constituents.

George W Bush is a liberal Republican. A true conservative would never have worked with Teddy Kennedy on anything. He spent like a drunken sailor....a true liberal trait
