The Germans would have been beaten in Europe just fine by the USSR regardless of American intervention. For the entire conflict the massive majority of German forces were fighting and outmatched by 1943 by the Russians. When the allies landed in France in 1944 the Russians were already putting massive pressure on the Germans indeed the decision to invade France was largely that they wanted to get in before the Russians won it for themselves.
However, the USA entering world war two was highly significant in the war in the Pacific as without the U.S there was nothing to stand in the way of the Japanese.
In the European Theater and Africa the Brits would not have defeated the Nazi Germans without the aid of the US and USSR. The US is credited with supplying the necessary things to conduct the war, providing men, providing food and medicine and the funds to conduct war in both the Pacific and Europe.
The Brits had a multiple front war they could never have handled without their Australians, New Zealanders, Canadians, Indians (of India) and other colonies. They fought right along with the Americans and depended on the US for funds, food, ammo, weapons and ships.
President Roosevelt and Prime Minister Winston Churchill are now recognized as being the two men who saved the Western Democratic FREE World as we know it today.
Without the US involvement, Great Britain would have lost the war to Nazi Germany which would have gained control of all of Western Europe. With this foothold to work from, Russia and Germany would have been at war and the result could have been complete dominance of Europe for one or the other.
In short, it has completely shaped the world we live in now and is the reason that I, a British student, am speaking and writing English.
America entered the war only after being attacked.
Not really, they entered because the Germans thought that they attacked them.So it wasn't that vital, they wouldn't even enter if the Germans didn't attack Canada.

4 August, 1914.
He was very significant in Irish history. Starting from his involvement in the 1916 Easter Rising, through the war of independence and the civil war, the founding of Fianna Fáil, his terms as Taoiseach, his involvement in the Irish constitution and being president of Ireland twice. From 1916 to 1973, he was a significant figure in Irish history. Details of all of these things would make for a massive answer, which isn't really practical to write.
