It was a coordinated desegregation effort in Albany Georgia which included the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and the National Association for Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) in 1961. It had nothing to do with Albany New York.
After attending meetings with the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Commitee, (SNCC) she helped found the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party (MFDP). Which led to blacks being able to vote.
Stokely Carmichael was a leader of the civil rights movement most notably as the leader of the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC).
