the best thing to do is to occupy yourself and just see if he does reply, if he does reply you have your answer, and if he doesn't then he's busy.
if however he is ignoring you because he doesn't want to hang out with you once you get to school, (it's likely you imagined that though), then he's not really worth you worrying about or dedicating much of your time to if he doesn't want to hang out with you mate.
on top of this, you'll make new friends in school and all will be well.

How do you know if he/she read it yet if he/she hasn't responded? If you totally know that they have read it and didnt respond is, maybe they are still mad and dont want to talk about it. But, what more can you do after you apologize? Just wait and see what happens!
