A mother hamster has multiple teats on her underbelly. The baby hamsters will latch on to these teats and feed on the mother's milk. After a few weeks the babies will start to eat regular hamster food.
Put some milk into a medicine dropper and slowly put some in the hamsters mouth. Hopes this helps.
My hamsters baby's were nearly 4 weeks old when we found she had given birth to more babies and they seemed to protect them with mum
Six weeks.
No the baby will probably die on it's own
a elephant feeds off its mum for 11 years :)
I'm sorry, but you can't. If the mother is trying to eat them, that means she feels threatened, or she knows that the babies are sickly/ill. I would just let nature take its course. You cannot feed 4 day old hamsters.
it could be sick you should talk to your local vet.
Prove to her that you really want one. You could do this by helping with housework, helping look after another pet like one belonging to someone you know, look after someone you know hamster to prove to your mum you know how to look after them and you could research into hamsters to prove to your mum that you really want a hamster.
no, its not smart to. 9 times out of 10 they will eat there babies. When I worked at petsmart, we would divide the cage with a glass "divider" plastic can be chewed through. The mother was only placed with the babies when it was time to "feed" and someone was there watching the entire time.
(just to say that you need to hold your hamster LOADS if you do travel so it will stay tame, it is a good idea to get a hamster sitter when on holiday to feed your hamster) hope i helped ox
Did you happen to hold the baby?!?! Your action might harm the babies and change its scent thus confuses the mother. She will think that they are not hers, abandon them and worst she might even eat the babies. If you did hold the baby the mother probably stoped feeding it which made it sick. === === === === * Separate the sick hamster from other hamsters if you are afraid that the sickness/disease could be contagious. * Clean up the cage and if possible sterilized all parts including toys, tubes, bottles and wheels. * All used bedding and unfinished foods should be discarded. * Keep the sick hamster in a quiet place away from any noisy environment to keep the hamster calm and prevent any further stress * Provide the sick hamster with enough water * In the mean time, monitor health condition of other hamsters for the same symptoms. I'm very sorry but there is probably nothing you can do to save him/her. Just make sure you don't make the same mistake with the other hamsters.
know you cant because it still needs its mum and her milk. But you can take them away when they are 8 weeks
