According to the 1999 Mercury Sable Owner Guide :
The 6 disc CD changer is in the trunk ( or if it is a wagon , the passenger side
storage compartment in the cargo area )
According to the 2002 Mercury Sable Owner Guide : ( the 6 disc C.D. changer is either located in the center console , the trunk , or the right side of the cargo area , that would be for the wagon version )
For a 1999 Mercury Sable wagon : I believe you will find the six disc CD changer ( if equipped ) in the cargo area behind the panel for the storage compartment / service compartment on the right side
I think the disc chamber is in the trunk. Centre hanging from the top at the edge.
First place I would check are the local auto salvage (aka junk) yards.
In a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer : The 6 disc C/D changer should be in the center console ( if not look under the drivers seat )
I would say that you don't have one. The radios are generic they can be used with or w/o CD changers. It is just the difference on the CD changer remote wire running to the back of the radio. There are only a few places that would be located. Trunk, glove box, middle console, or underneath one the seats. These are really the only places that the factory puts them. Hope this helps.AnswerIn the 1998 Sable - Taurus, the CD changer is in the back left corner of the trunk. In the wagon, the changer is over on the other side on the right.See "Related Questions" below for more about Taurus - Sable radios

I tried to put the disc into a different slot that worked, and swap locations with that disc in the same slot. If the new disc works in the ERR slot then it is the disc. ...
you got a disc stuck in the disc changer.
It is very simple to replace most Toyota Radios. If you have a radio with changer control unit and separate disc changer, my recommendation would be to with a disc changer that is built into the head unit. Check e-bay for cheap OEM replacement.
