Were there any airplanes in the Korean War?

Yes! In fact my Grandfather flew one in that war.It was air support on the UN side which made it impossible for the Communist forces to win as their armies did not have any.

The main air components were USAF bombers and fighters, USN and US Marine aircraft, Royal Navy fighters and bombers and Australian fighters and fighter-bombers.

Everything from P-51 Mustangs to B-29 bombers on the UN side and Yak 9 and La 9, later replaced by the MiG 15 fighter on the Communist side.
