Actually, the more harsher camps were located in Poland. Anyway, these camps were places in which the Nazis kept anyone who Hitler didn't like. For example: Jewish, Catholics, Gypsies. Unfortunately, these camps were actually death camps.
The official list of concentration camps issued by the Federal German Ministry of Justice list the following concentration camps in Berlin: " 98 Berlin, SS-Hauptwirtschaftslager II (Berlin-Südende), Volksdeutsche Mittelstelle (Berlin W 62), Reichssicherheitshauptamt, Kreiselgerät GmbH, Deutsche Ausrüstungswerke (SS-WVHA/Amt W IV), Bauleitung Groß-Berlin Sachsenhausen 99 Berlin, Arado-Flugzeugwerke, Sachsenhausen ab 1.10.1944 100 Berlin-Falkensee, siehe Falkensee 101 Berlin-Hakenfelde, Luftfahrtgerätewerk, Sachsenhausen ab 1.7.1943 102 Berlin-Halensee Sachsenhausen 103 Berlin, Kastanienallee, Sachsenhausen 29.9.1941 bis 31.12.1941 104 Berlin, Kommandoamt der SS, Sachsenhausen 2.5.1941 bis 31.12.1941 105 Berlin-Köpenick, AEG-Kabelwerk Oberspree, Sachsenhausen bis 20.4.1945 106 Berlin-Lichtenrade, Sachsenhausen bis 20.4.1945 107 Berlin-Lichterfelde, Sachsenhausen ab 7.1.1941 108 Berlin-Marienfelde, Sachsenhausen ab 23.9.1943 109 Berlin-Neukölln, Registrierkassen-Gesellschaft Krupp Sachsenhausen 110 Berlin-Niederschöneweide, Firma Pertrix (Varta), Sachsenhausen bis 21.4.1945 111 Berlin-Reinickendorf, Argus-Werke Sachsenhausen 112 Berlin-Siemensstadt, Siemens-Schuckertwerke, Sachsenhausen 17.7.1944 bis 10.4.1945 113 Berlin-Spandau (Frauen), Deutsche Industriewerke, Sachsenhausen bis 23.4.1945 114 Berlin-Tegel, Borsig-Werke Sachsenhausen 115 Berlin-Tempelhof, "Columbia", 8.1.1935 bis 5.11.1936 116 Berlin-Weißensee, siehe Jugendschutzlager 117 Berlin-Wilmersdorf, Sachsenhausen 2.1.1943 bis 3.7.1943 118 Berlin-Zehlendorf, Spinnstoff-Fabrik Zehlendorf" Source: http://bundesrecht.juris.de/begdv_6/anlage_6.html
No. Concentration camps were not all in present day Germany, but they were all in areas that were occupied by Germany while they were in use. There were thousands of "concentration camps" in German - Konzentrationslager. These are often confused (in English) with death camps - in German - Vernichtungslager,of which there were seven. These are the camps with the infamous names of Auschwitz, Kulmhof (which were located in Germany, in the part which was ceded to Poland at the end of WWII); Belzec, Sobibor, Treblinka and Majdanek(which were located in German occupied Poland) and Maly Trostinets which was in occupied Russia. These seven camps had the function of systematic murder. A 'normal' Konzentrationslager 'only' murdered those too sick or too old to work or as a form of punishment The Vernichtungslagerwere built for the purpose of mass extermination. The National Socialist Party (Nazi Party) not only murdered Jews, but also homosexuals and the handicapped. ___ Auschwitz was part of Poland from 1919-1939, and before that it was part of the Austrian Empire. Kulmhof was also part of Poland from 1919-1939, having previously been in West Prussia. The statement "located in Germany, in the part which was ceded to Poland at the end of WWII" is not accurate as the annexation of these areas from Poland in 1939 was not generally recognized internationally. It is agreed that the German annexation of Poland in 1939 was not recognized internationally, this dispute was the beginning of WWII. However, the areas where Auschwitz and Klumhof were located were historically German speaking areas. These areas were administered as German states by the Nazis, as opposed to the rest of Poland which was administered by the occupational German army. From the point of view of the builders of these infamous camps, they were on German territory.
There were concentration camps inside Germany, including Ravensbrck, Dachau, and Bergen-Belsen. However, these were not inside major German cities.
German concentration camps were where Jews and other people went when they were caught by the Nazis
Yes. The main Nazi concentration camp in Austria was the Mauhausen group of camps, which included Gusen and Ebensee.
