Very difficult to answer, because most of the 50's number one hits were by artists, not bands. Also not much good information on number one hits in the 50's BEFORE the rock era began in 1955.
If you want to consider the Everly Brothers a band, they had 3 number one hits before 1960...Cathy's Clown would be number 4 but that was in 1960.

Yes Elvis Presley had two bands in his life time. In the 50s it was the Blue Moon Boys. During the 70s it was the TCB Band.

The number one selling car throughout most of the 50s was Chevrolet. Ford did outsell Chevy in 1957 but barely. The 1955 Chevy was the most popular car of that decade. 55, 56, & 57 were banner years with all models selling well. Plymouth, Oldsmobile, and Dodge were also popular.
The majority of immigrants who came to the United States in the 1840s and 50s came from Ireland. A great number came from Germany as well.
