There are many places you can go to get a handheld laser scanner. One place I was able to locate is called Scanning Datalogic.com. If they do not have what you need they maybe able to point you in the right direction.
Protable handheld scanners works similarly to a regular scanner only you are moving the scanner not a mechanical device. This can cause blurring or failed scans if you don't have a steady hand.
