∙ 12y agoYes. You take it out after it's been in for three weeks. You can take it out sooner if you want to change methods or get pregnant. Putting it in and taking it out are completely under the patient's control.

∙ 11y agoIf NuvaRing came out during intercourse, rinse it with cool water and reinsert it. If it was out for less than three hours, there's no cause for concern.

No, the Nuva Ring offers no protection in the 5th week. It is effective for the first three weeks it's in. In the fourth week, you normally remove the ring. You are still protected against pregnancy from the use during the previous three weeks, but not from having the ring in the vagina. In the fifth week, protection runs out. A women who finds she's forgotten to change the ring four weeks or more after the last one was inserted should remove the old ring, insert a new ring, and use that as the new ring change day. The new ring should be removed after three weeks, on the same day of the week it was inserted. If she has had intercourse during that fifth week, she might consider using emergency contraception to reduce the risk of pregnancy from sex that occurred during the previous five days.
