Blurred vision is a common symptoms of diabetes. When blood glucose levels are high for an extended period of time, the shape of the lens of the eye can change and result in vision changes.

When you have diabetes, if you feel blurred vision, then you may have having levels of high glucose levels in your blood. Neurological damage can also occur as a result of diabetes. When glucose levels continue to stay high for a number of years, irreversible nerve damage can happen.

The early symptom of eye problem related to diabetes is blurred vision. High blood sugar changes the flexibility and shape of the lens of the eye distorting the ability to focus and leads to blurred vision.

Don't run out and buy a new pair of glasses as soon as you notice you have blurred vision. It may just be a temporary problem that develops rapidly and is caused by high blood sugar levels.

High blood sugar leads to the lens of the eye to swell, which affects your ability to see. To treat this kind of blurred vision, you need to get your blood sugar back into the balance level (80-140 mg/dL before meals and 100-160 mg/dL before bedtime snack). Your vision will fully get back to the normal when your blood sugar is well controlled. It takes about more than three months.
