A 21 week old baby is a fully developed child that lacks the lung maturity to live outside the womb. Week 14: Your baby is 3 1/2" long and weighs about 1 ounce or about the size of a flip phone. Your baby has fingerprints this week! Your baby is learning how to control voluntary muscle movements.
Week 15: Your baby is 4" long and weighs about 2 ounces or about the size of a Kit Kat! You may start feeling flutters of movement this week! Your baby will grow eyebrows this week! Your baby can also sense light. He is also experiencing hiccups and is perfecting sucking and swallowing this week.
Week 16: Your baby is 4"-5" inches long and weighs 3 ounces, or about the length of your mascara. Your baby is mastering facial expressions such as squinting, yawning etc. If your baby is a girl, she has fully developed ovaries and female reproductive organs this week. Your baby's eyes are also in their final position to stay. This is also the week most women have amniocentesis performed if they decide it is right for them.
Week 17: Your baby is 5" long and weighs 4 ounces or about the size of a baked potato! This week your baby is starting to store fat to keep him/her warm. The nail beds are forming on your baby's finer and toe nails this week!
