Fortunately for the children of Japan, Japanese is the language of instruction used in Japanese schools.
Sign language is useful for communication for the deaf people but it is not just used with deaf people, but many parents use it to communicate with young children or babies to have more understanding of what they want. Deaf people cannot hear so they need another way of communication with the people around them and the only way to do that is using the hands through sign language. if written language was primary it would automatically exclude children and illiterate people since they cannot write. Children and illiterate people can, however, speak.
It is not recommended to whiten children's teeth with whitening strips or other commercially available whitening agents. The reason is that children's teeth have relatively large pulp chambers, where the nerve of the tooth resides. Whitening can cause severe tooth sensitivity in people with large pulp chambers. Whitening is not recommended before the person is in their early twenty's or at least late teens. By then the pulp chambers have shrunk and sensitivity becomes less likely. Even then, sensitivity can be an issue. Fortunately, if sensitivity becomes an issue it usually resolves itself by stopping the whitening process.

Generally, for some reason, the children do not want to speak the language of their small community, so the only speakers of the language are the older people. When the older people die, the language dies with them.
