lots of different animals feed on dead animals. this could be the cause of lack of food but it is usually just easier for wild animals to eat a animal that they found dead as they do not have to hunt. most animals (including humans) eat animals that are dead as it would be hard to eat them if they were still living and moving.

animals that find other animals dead and eat them are call scavengers. an example of this type of animals is the hyena.

i hope this helped :)

There are many types of fungi that feed on dead carcasses and animals. Most of them are all over the place in the fungi kingdom and most of them we can't see. But there is a mushroom that can be found in the soil beneath bones of dead animals, native to Australia only and found in every state except the Northern Territory called Hebeloma Aminophilum. It can also grow under the remnants of bones from bush barbeques.

How do fungi help to recycle nutrients?

they decompose dead organisms

What are decomposers in general mean?

Decomposers are an essential part of the food chain. Decomposers, or saprotrophs, break down dead plants and animals into chemical nutrients like carbon and nitrogen that are released back into the soil, air, and water, so they can be reused. The three main types of decomposers are bacteria, fungi, and scavengers. Bacteria are the smallest of all living organisms. They eat dead animal carcasses and plants. Actinomycetes are a form of fungi-like bacteria. They decompose tough plant tissues like bark, paper, and stems. Fungi release enzymes that decompose dead plants and animals. They absorb nutrients from the organism they are decomposing. Fungi are very efficient in breaking down tough organisms like wood and often work together with bacteria to decompose plants. Scavengers are animals that eat dead plants and animals. Cockroaches, the Dung Beetle, and flies are examples of scavengers. Worms, like the earthworm, eat dead plants, animals, and small pebbles. Their waste comes out in "casts." Theses casts are rich in nutrients like nitrogen, phosphorus, and potash. Decomposers help complete the Food Web cycle, returning essential molecules to the producers.

Are mushrooms decomposers?

From the research i have descovered, mushrooms are decomposers.Fungi like mushrooms, mildew, mold and toadstools are not plants. They don't have chlorophyll so they can't make their own food. Fungi release enzymes that decompose dead plants and animals. Fungi absorb nutrients from the organisms they are decomposing! :D
