3 factors that influence enzyme activity?

The three main factors that affect enjyme activity are:- a)Temperature:Enzymes generally function properly at a narrow rangr of temperature and shows its highest activity t a particular temperature called its optimum temperature. b)pH:-as temperature pH also has a particular value ,in which the enzymes are most active, called the optimum temperature. c)Concentration of substrate;-with the increase in substrate concentration, the velocity of the enzymatic reaction also increases, till a maximum velocitywhich does not rise any further with the rise in substrate concentration.

What types of conditions affect enzymes?

if the envirionment is cold, the reaction rate decreases. if the envirionment is warm, the reaction rate increases. however, if the envirinment is too hot, the enzyme will be denatured. a pH out of the enzyme's optimal range will also denature it. when an enzyme is denatured, it looses its shape a its active site is no longer able to recive the molecule and break it down.

Four ways hormones may alter cellular activity?

1) Change in membrane permeability and/or voltage 2) Enzyme activation/inactivation 3) Initiation of secretory activity 4) Synthesis of regulatory molecules such as enzymes

What are the 3 factors that can change the rate of enzyme reaction?

The first factor is Enzyme concentration or subtrate concentration. The rate of enzyme action is directly proportional to to the availability of enzyme provided the substrate concentration unlimited.Or the rate is directly proportional to the substrate concentration if enzymes are limited but if enzyme concentration is kept constant then upto the certain level the increase in substrate amount will no longer increase the rate of enzyme action. Second factor is temperature. The rate if an enzyme action is always directly proportional to the increase in temperature but upto the specific limit called as optimum temperature. Third factor is the pH value.Enzymes can work efficiently over a narrow range of pH called as Optimum pH.A minor change in pH value can denature the enzyme.

Difference Between 3' to 5' and 5' to 3' Exonuclease Activity?

3'-5' is a characteristic feature of DNA-polymerase I. This activity is meant to repair any misparing mistakes that the enzyme may commit during the synthesis, in which the enzyme would reverse its direction by ONE NUCLEOTIDE and excised the mistakenly added nucleotide, the enzyme acts at the phosphodiester bond at the 5 prime. Whereas the 5'-3' exonuclease activity is an also repair strategy exercised by the DNA polymerase I. However, in this case the polymerase would move in the forwards direction and excise the miss-matched nucleotides at any position regardless with one nucleotide far or so many. This mechanism of repair is well documented in case UV-mutation.

What are some factors that may influence enzyme activity?

Factors affecting enzyme activity1: Enzyme concentrationIf the quantity of enzyme is doubled, the enzymatic activity will also be doubled because more enzymes are now available to work. After a certain level of enzyme concentration, there will be no more increase in the enzymatic activity because all the substrate molecules are combined with an enzyme and the rate of reaction will stabilize.2: Substrate concentrationBy increasing substrate concentration, enzymatic activity increases. Increasing the substrate further without increasing the enzyme concentration will not affect the enzymatic activity because all the enzymes are occupied by a substrate molecule.3: pH valueSome enzymes require acidic surroundings, most require a more neutral condition for their activity. Change in the pH can change the enzyme's structure and enzyme become useless.4: TemperatureAn increase in temperature of 10 degree celsius doubles the enzymatic activity. Each enzyme has its own optimum temperature at which its enzymatic activity is maximum. Very high temperatures break the bonds that maintain shape of enzyme. If the enzyme denatures, the substrate can not fit in to the active sites and enzyme become useless.
