West Side Story was based on the play. As was Romeo Must Die.. If you think about it, Twilight also has similar themes such as forbidden love, Family strife, not fitting in to your lover's world, etc.
Romeo and Juliet (1935), Romeo & Juliet (1968) and Romeo+Juliet (1996).
Verona, Italy
Which Romeo and Juliet are you talking about? Romeus and Juliet the poem by Arthur Brooke? Romeo and Juliet the play by William Shakespeare? Romeo and Juliet the Symphonic Poem by Tchaikovsky? Romeo and Juliet the ballet by Prokofieff? Romeo and Juliet the song by Dire Straits? All of them are original works even though they are all about the same story.
Romeo and Juliet was a story, adapted into verse by Arthur Brooke. William Shakespeare wrote his play based on Brooke's poem. The play has been the inspiration for innumerable screenplays, operas, songs, pieces of orchestral music and ballets. But no novels. There is no Romeo and Juliet novel.
An example is the coincidence that in Act 5 Scene3 Romeo goes to visit Juliet at the grave at the same time that PAris does

No.
Capulet agrees to build a golden statue of Romeo and Montague agrees to do the same for Juliet.
It's got the same thing as the other one.

In Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet, Juliet is indeed about two weeks away from her fourteenth birthday. She is thirteen. But this is not a "true fact" in the same way it would be if Romeo and Juliet were real people rather than characters in a play.
Romeo died first. Juliet took a fake potion to make her sleep but appear to be dead. Romeo then drank his potion presuming her dead and died. Juliet then woke up to find Romeo dead and stabbed herself with his knife.
There was a remake of the traditional Romeo and Juliet in 1996 of the same name. It gave the plot a modern day makeover.
Yeah it is. The part comes in the 1996 version in the scene where Romeo and Juliet get married.
